Influenciado pelo uso da 808, o novo trabalho, tem sonoridade techno e house old school. Esses estilos, misturados ao technopop, marca já característica do Two Divided by Zero, formam a base do álbum que ainda passeia pelo pop, dub, minimal e até rock. O novo disco faz um uso maior de vocais, sampleados ou com vocoder.
Quando terminei de escrever a faixa Paissandu 808, uma das minhas preferidas, percebi a riqueza nos timbres da TR-808. Assim tive a idéia de fazer um trabalho explorando ao máximo este instrumento. Pacific é o resultado deste projeto. O nome é uma homenagem ao hino ambient house Pacific 202 do 808 State.
Influenced by the 808, the new record sounds like techno and house old school. These styles, mixed with the technopop, an already established brand of Two Divided By Zero, form the base of this album, which still wanders through pop, dub, minimal and even rock. The new record also sports more usage of vocals, sampled or with vocoders.
When I finished writting Paissandu 808, one of my favorites, I realised the richness of the TR-808 sounds. So, I had the idea of making a work exploring the most of this instrument. Pacific is the result of this project. The title is a tribuite to the ambient house anthem Pacific 202 from 808 Sate.

Os samples Music, eu extraí de várias músicas que gostava. Desde Kraftwerk até Underground Sound of Lisbon. Os zeros a que o nome da faixa se refere é a década que vivemos. Tivemos os oitenta, os noventa e teremos os dez, 2010, 2011... Agora vivemos os zeros.
A breakbeat electro with TR-808 drums and a very technopop synth riff. This track is part of the Two EP, released by the virtual label Conteúdo Records. The Music samples, I have extracted from several tracks I liked. From Krafwerk to Underground Sound of Lisbon. The zeros, from the title is the decade we live in. We had the eighties, the nineties, and we will have the tens, 2010, 2011... Now we live the zeros.

Altamente influenciada pelo som da banda britânica 808 State, essa é a faixa conceito do álbum: bateria TR-808 pura misturada com techno e house old school. O nome da faixa é uma brincadeira com o 808 State e com o ano de 1988. Este ano foi muito interessante para a cultura dance music em geral.
Highly influenced by the sound of the British group 808 State, this is the concept track of the album: pure TR-808 drums mixed with techno and house old school. The name of the track is a joke with 808 State and the year 1988. This year was very interesting for the dance music culture in general.

Um misto de technopop com house do ínicio dos anos 90. Desde moleque eu tive um certo fascínio pela União Soviética. Talvez por ter nascido do lado de cá da cortina de ferro, havia uma curiosidade sobre o que acontecia do lado de lá. AK-47, Mil Mi 24, Spetsnaz, Sputnik e todos esses nomes complexos... CCCP é uma brincadeira sobre isso tudo. Essa faixa também faz parte do EP Two.
A mix of technopop with early 90's house. Since I was a kid I had this fascination for the Soviet Union. Maybe for being born in this side of the Iron curtain, there was a curiosity about what was happening in the other side. AK-47, Mil Mi 24, Spetsnaz, Sputnik and all these complex names... CCCP is a joke about all that. This track is also part of the Two EP.

A mistura das batidas quebradas do electro de NY com o technopop resultaram nesta faixa. A idéia surgiu há muito tempo, ainda em Florianópolis. O DJ Spiceee, sabendo que eu gostava muito de Pet Shop Boys, me mostrou essa faixa do Jonny L, perguntando se eu via também a semelhança de melodia entre o trabalho desses dois artistas. A música era Oh I like it, e a semelhança estava lá, sem dúvida. Muito tempo depois, me inspirei no refrão dessa faixa para criar I like it electronic. A letra é sobre um dia dos namorados muito agradável, regado a filme do Woody Allen e muito sushi e sashimi.

The union of the breakbeats from the NY electro with the technopop resulted in this track. The idea came a long time ago, still in Florianopolis, Brazil. The DJ Spiceee, knowing that I liked Pet Shop Boys a lot, showed me this tune from Jonny L, asking me if I also saw the resemblance of melody between the work of those two artists. The song was Ooh I like it, and the resemblance was there, indeed. Some years later, I've been inspired by the chorus from this track to create I like it electronic. The lyrics are about a very pleasant Valentine's Day, filled with a movie from Woody Allen and a lot of sushi and sashimi.

Como próprio nome já diz, é um minimal. O Sunny fica por conta dos elementos dub espalhados aqui e ali. Quando o designer Nicholas Frota estava trabalhando na arte do meu álbum Background ele disse que o meu som era assim: Sunny e minimal. Eu gostei tanto dessa definição que quis fazer uma faixa com esse conceito.
As the title already states, it's a minimal. The Sunny happens to be because of all the dub elements spread here and there. When the graphic designer Nicholas Frota was working in the art of my album Background, he said my sound was like that: Sunny and minimal. I so liked this definition I decided to create a track with this concept.

Um technopop instrumental, com harmonia melódica e suave e levada alegre e dançante. O 808 State gravou uma vez uma faixa chamada Revenge of the girlie men. Eu achei que esse título tinha tudo a ver comigo e quis usar esse conceito para criar uma faixa de technopop. O resultado foi A softcore boy.
An instrumental technopop with a melodic and smooth harmony and a very snappy and dancing rhythm. The 808 State once recorded a tune called Revenge of the girlie men. I thought this title had everything to do with me and I wanted to use this concept to create a technopop track. The result was A softcore boy.

Um techno old school com sonoridades de minimal, que usa um padrão rítmico diferenciado. Ao ouvir faixas como Personal Jesus do Depeche Mode ou Can you forgiver her? dos Pet Shop Boys, é fácil notar uma cadência que não se encontra em qualquer faixa de e-music. Eu quis usar esse padrão e explorá-lo através dos timbres da TR-808.
An old school techno with minimal sounds that uses a different rhythm pattern. When you listen tracks like Personal Jesus from Depeche Mode or Can you forgive her? from Pet Shop Boys, it's easy to notice a rhythm that you can't find in any e-music track. I wanted to use this pattern and explore it through the TR-808 sounds.

Um rock eletrônico que fiz em homenagem á minha esposa Valéria Cotta. Temos tanta coisa em comum, mas nem tudo, claro. Uma dessas poucas coisas é o fato que ela gostar muito de rock e eu não. Assim, quis trabalhar esse estilo que é muito dela e pouco meu na faixa em sua homenagem. Usei as poucas referências que tenho: De Joy Division e New Order a Legião Urbana e Happy Mondays.

An electronic rock that I've made to pay homage to my wife Valéria Cotta. We have so many things in common but not everything, of course. One of those few things is the fact that she likes rock a lot and I don't. So I wanted to work with this style that is most hers and less mine in the track about her. I used the few references I've got: from Joy Division and New Order to Legião Urbana and Happy Mondays.
